IGNOU Online MA English Admission process will start soon for the January 2026 academic session. It is a 2-year online postgraduate programme. Students having a Bachelor’s degree are eligible to apply through the official website. Total Programme fee for 2 years Online MA English Programme is INR 12,000, plus registration fee and development fee. The starting date of admission is not decided but expected to be December 15, 2025*, with further extensions as notified by University. IGNOU Online MA English admission has not started yet for the January 2026 academic session. Those who are eligible can apply after paying registration fees applicable and mandatory for every student. Admission procedure is fully online. There is no need to even go for assignment submission or Term End Examination as everything is conducted online. All students are advised to visit university website and apply from there only as there is no other authorized website to apply. English is the only medium in which course is delivered. 15 December 2025* is the starting date of admissions (tentative).

Eligibility Criteria For IGNOU Online MA English Admission 2026

To be eligible, every student must pass the eligibility criteria. They should hold a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent higher degree from a recognized University board. DEB ID, is another mandatory requirement that must be fulfilled if someone is applying for admission in Online programmes. Eligible students can apply through online application form available at University website. IGNOU has a course duration of 2 years for Online English Programme that can be extended up to 4 years, providing flexibility to students. The university follows a semester based structure for this programme and consists of 4 semesters.

For the Online MA English Programme, IGNOU’s fee is budget-friendly and low-cost. It has an application fee that is necessary to pay for each student. There is a development fee as well. The complete fee is paid at the time of submission of the admission form. SC/ST/OBC students get relaxation in the application fee. In addition to this, there are examination fees which are not included in the fee structure as they will be decided later by the University.

IGNOU Online MA English Admission Process 2026

Students are advised to apply to Online programmes only if they have their personal laptop/PC and good internet connection. No printed study material will be provided to students enrolling in this programme. Follow below given steps below to apply:

• Step 1: Go to official website of IGNOU and click on ‘Apply for Online Programmes’ under the admission section.
• Step 2: Create a ‘New User’ account by providing your personal email id, name and mobile number. Check you mail to get credentials for the students’ portal
• Step 3: Now login again with your credentials. Choose an interesting programme and get access to the registration/application form. 
• Step 4: Start filling your application form with all required personal and educational details.
• Step 5: Now upload documents in scanned format from originals only.
• Step 6: Check every detail carefully, then submit for, after paying the applicable fee. Take a screenshot of the fee acknowledgment receipt and check mail for application form confirmation.
• Step 7: University will send admission confirmation on registered mail once they will verify everything.

IGNOU Online MA English Admission Status

Students can check their admission status by following a few simple steps. First, they need to go to official website of University. Then click on ‘’Students Services tab. After it opens, scroll down and click on ‘Know your Status’ options. Fill in your enrollment number and programme code. Then there will be a security check question. Complete it and click on the ‘search’ or ‘submit’ button to see your admission status. 

• Go to official website of IGNOU.
• Search for Students Support or Service section on homepage.
• Then click on ‘know your status’ and access admission/registration status.
• Fill your details (enrollment no. & programme code) and captcha
• Check for status. If it shows ‘Pending’ or ‘Rejected’ then check mail as there must be some documents missing or incorrect information.

Admission status is usually confirmed within 15 to 30 days. If not confirmed, students are advised to contact their regional centres or main University.

IGNOU Online MA English LMS Information

IGNOU has a Centralized Learning Management System (LMS) to help students in their study and learning, which is called IOLPMS (IGNOU Online Learning Management System). At this portal students can find various course materials, assignments, and other programme related information. They can access the portal by logging in through their student portal credentials. At this portal students can even get information about their subjects and teachers who will teach them. Here, they get access to video lectures and live counselling sessions as well.
