IGNOU Online CLIS admission will start soon for the January 2026 academic session. Certificate in Library and Information Science (CLIS) is a certificate course of 6 months duration approved by UGC. IGNOU Online CLIS Programme Overview

Certificate Programme in Library and Information Science (CLIS) is a short-term certificate programme offered by IGNOU with a course duration of 6 months. This University introduced the CLIS certificate programme to cater staffing needs of rural libraries and to provide basic training & skills in library management. CLIS Programme imparts skills and training that is necessary for the effective organisation and management of library services. IGNOU has this course in English medium only but it allows students to write in Hindi as well for the Term End Examination.

IGNOU Online CLIS admission window has not opened yet for the January 2026 academic session. Eligible students can apply through official website. University imposes a mandatory application fee which varies for General and Reserved category students. Medium of instruction for programme delivery is English and the programme is delivered by university in Online mode. The admission procedure is also completely online. The starting date to apply is expected to be December 15, 2025*. 

Eligibility Criteria For IGNOU Online CLIS Admission 2026

IGNOU has eligibility criteria for students wanting to take admission in CLIS Programme. All students must be 10th and 12th passed or its equivalent from certified board of education. They should also have a DEB ID which is important if someone is applying for Online or ODL Programmes. DEB ID can be created anytime with a few steps. Students should have one at the time of filling application form. Eligible students can apply for admissions through authorized IGNOU website.

Certificate Programme (CLIS) has a very affordable fee at IGNOU for due to its short term duration. There is a development fee as well. Students must also pay an application fee which is mandatory and non refundable. Students from General Category needs to pay INR 300 meanwhile students from Reserved Category need to pay INR 150 application fee.

IGNOU Online CLIS Admission Procedure 2026

  • Step 1: Go to official website of IGNOU and click on ‘Apply for Online Programme’ or directly apply through Samarth Admission portal of IGNOU
  • Step 2: Create a new account under ‘New Registration’ and save credentials (username and password) to relogin.
  • Step 3: Now login as existing user and select course you’ve decided to apply in to access application form
  • Step 4: Start filling the application form with all necessary and required details (Personal and educational)
  • Step 5: Upload necessary documents from your originals in scanned format
  • Step 6: Preview form one last time, then pay fees and submit application
  • Step 7: Now wait for the admission confirmation mail as university will first verify your application and documents then confirm your admission.

NOTE: IGNOU usually takes 10 to 30 working days to check and confirm admissions.

IGNOU Scholarship and Admission Refund Policy

Scholarship Policy- IGNOU may not have any scholarship policy that is directed through University itself but it makes sure to financially aid its students. Eligible students who have applied in IGNOU can apply for National Government of India scholarships via National Scholarship Portal (NSP), after confirmation of their admission. Students get scholarships on merit basis, class category and on the basis of their financial condition.

Admission Refund/Cancellation Policy- IGNOU has refund policies for students who decide to withdraw or cancel their admission for any reason. Though there are some terms & conditions as well. There is no application fee for any student. Students who cancel admission before their confirmation status will get a complete refund of programme and development fee. Students who withdraw after admission confirmation will get a refund after 15% deduction. Students who withdraw after the closing of admission period will not get any refund. Those students who got scholarship cancels their admission then only development fee will be refunded to them
