Eligibility Criteria For IGNOU MEd Admission 2026
Just like other universities, IGNOU has also implemented eligibility that must be fulfilled by every interested candidate. They must have a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognised University. Though, a Bachelor’s degree in Education from recognised university is a benefit to students. Minimum passing marks in Bachelor’s should be 50% for General students and 45% for Reserved category students.
In addition to this, every candidate who is applying should also have a DEB ID, which is important if someone is applying for OL or ODL courses. Eligible candidates can go to official website and apply from there.
IGNOU MEd Admission Fees Structure 2026
IGNOU offers M.ed Programme with low cost fee structure so that it could be affordable to majority of students. Total fees of the programme is INR 20,000. IGNOU also imposes development fee and application fee. Reserved Category students (SC/ST/OBC) get relaxation in application fee. Application fee is compulsory to pay and is a non refundable amount. IGNOU MEd Admission Process 2026
Follow the given steps to apply for M.ed Programme without facing problems:
- Step 1: Visit official website of IGNOU to apply or directly apply through IGNOU Admission Portal
- Step 2: Create account under ‘New Registration’ by using your own Email ID and contact number
- Step 3: Again login on portal with same credentials received on Email ID and get access to registration/application form and select course you are interested in
- Step 4: Fill in required personal details (phone number, contact, name, residential address, etc) and relevant academic qualification
- Step 5: Upload documents (scanned) for documentary proof of details
- Step 6: Check all details before going forward to final submission
- Step 7: Pay application and programme fees
- Step 8: submit your application and download filled application form & fee acknowledgement receipt Step 09: Once University will verify all your documents, then you will receive a confirmation mail of admission on your registered Email ID.

IGNOU MEd Programme Evaluation and Credit System
IGNOU has different evaluation system in comparison to other universities. Its evaluation involves assignments and Term End Examination (TEE). Assignments contribute to 30% marks and TEE contributes to 70% marks of final result. Assignments are necessary component to qualify for TEE. If assignments are not submitted then they will not be allowed to appear.
M.ed Programme consists of 60 credits, 30 credits for each year. Each credit is equivalent to 30 hours of studying comprising all learning activities. This helps students to know how much effort they have to put in to pass the course they have applied in.
IGNOU MEd Admission Cancellation Policy
IGNOU offers admission cancellation policy if any student decides to back out or withdraw from admissions. Registration/application fee will not be refunded.
- If students cancel prior to their admission confirmation, then they will get complete refund (excluding registration fee).
- If they cancel after confirmation of admission then 15% of admission fee and INR 2,000 will be deducted.
- If a student who has received scholarship applies for admission cancellation then only development fee will be refunded to them.
- If a student cancels after closing of the admission window, then no amount will be refunded to them.
