IGNOU MCom admission process will start soon for the January session 2026. It is a postgraduate programme with 2 years of duration, highly recognised and approved by University Grant Commission (UGC). Total programme fee of MCom is INR 20,000. Students who hold a Bachelor degree or its equivalent can apply for admission by filling a registration form, accessed from the official IGNOU website. What is MCom programme?

Masters of Commerce (MCom) is a postgraduate level degree programme. It has a course duration of 2 years and consists of 4 semesters. At IGNOU, students choosing this degree programme is equipped with necessary analytical and conceptual skills required for handling business operations. It is a good choice if students want a successful career.  Students who choose this programme get a lot of career opportunities after completion. They get various job roles such as Auditor, Accountant, Bank Manager, Tax Consultant, Financial Analyst, Data Analysts, Supply Chain Manager and so on. They can also become lecturers or professors. 

IGNOU MCom Admission 2026

IGNOU MCom admission process will begin soon for the academic session 2026. under January 2026 academic session. Eligible students can apply online via official website. Admission process is completely online. There is no need to visit University for any admission related work. University implies registration fee of Rs. 300 for general students and provides relaxation in registration fee to Reserved category students. They have to pay only Rs. 150. It is expected that the starting date of admission will be 15 December 2025*

Eligibility Criteria For IGNOU MCom Admission 2026

Interested candidates must hold an Undergraduate degree or its equivalent from recognised University, or they will not be eligible. Another mandatory requirement is DEB ID. Students who do not have a DEB ID at the time of filling registration form will not be allowed to proceed further. They can create a DEB ID anytime but before applying for admission. So, interested students fulfil the eligibility criteria for IGNOU MCom admission 2026- 27 and also, make the DEB ID carefully.

IGNOU MCom Admission Fee Structure 2026

For MCom programme, IGNOU offers a cost efficient fee structure as it aims to provide education that can be accessible to all. Students have to pay development fees, programme fees and registration fees all at the time of registration form submission. Students from reserved category get relaxation in registration fee and have to submit only Rs. 150.  Refer below mentioned table to know more about fee structure:

IGNOU MCom Admission Process 2026

  • Step 1: Go to official IGNOU website or Samarth admission portal. 
  • Step 2: After official website opens up, check the ‘admission section’ and then click on ‘Apply for ODL Programmes’ (Students directly went to Samarth portal, skip this step)
  • Step 3: Once admission portal opens, click on New Registration and create account by filling basic details in registration form.
  • Step 4: Once successfully registered, your credentials (username & password) will be created. Save it.
  • Step 5: Now, access registration form and fill it with all necessary personal details.
  • Step 6: Then fill your academic details (10th, 12th, Undergraduation, and so on)
  • Step 7: Check your form before submitting for last time to see if there is any mistake.
  • Step 8: Pay fee and submit your form.
  • Step 9: In the last step, University will verify all your details and documents. Once verified, you will receive admission confirmation mail on registered Email ID.

NOTE: Check regularly on website for latest notification and updates. DEB ID is mandatory at the time of application submission.

IGNOU Scholarship Policy

There is no official scholarship policy at IGNOU but all eligible students taking admission here apply for the Government of India Scholarship policy. They can do so by applying through National Scholarship Portal (NSP) for different policies that can help in fee concession and relaxation. Scholarship is provided on merit basis, students’ category basis and on the basis of economic condition of student. 

IGNOU Withdrawal of Admission Policy

IGNOU allows students to cancel or withdraw their admission from University with some terms and conditions. Application/ registration fee is not refundable in any circumstances.

  • Students withdrawing from admission before confirmation by University will get a complete fee refund.
  • Students who are cancelling after confirmation of admission will get a refund after 15% programme fee deduction and INR 2000 fine.
  • Students who cancel after closing of admission date will not get any fee refund.
  • Students applied for scholarships and have paid only development & registration fee, then only development fee will be refunded if they withdraw their name. 

IGNOU Evaluation System

At IGNOU, evaluation system for any programme is based on two components: internal assessment and Term End Examination. Internal assessment contains 30% of marks and includes assignments, practicals , etc. Term End Examination contains 70% of marks and it includes written theory exam & Webinars/ workshops (if there is any). Students have to submit their assignment at the assigned study centre. It is mandatory to submit assignments or that student will not be qualified to appear in their Term End Examination.
