What is an MCA Degree Programme?
MCA (Master of Computer Applications) is a postgraduate-level course. Total course duration is 2 years, consisting of 4 semesters. In MCA Programme, students gain advanced knowledge in Computer science and its applications. They get theoretical and practical knowledge in computer science and software development. Its curriculum covers areas such as Programming language (Java, Python), database management and system design. After completing this course students can become System Analysts, Senior Network Administrators, Software developers, IT Managers, Project Managers etc.
IGNOU MCA Admission 2026-27
IGNOU offers admission in two sessions – January and July. IGNOU MCA admission window has not opened yet for the January Academic session 2026. Students who fulfills eligibility criteria can apply for admission through official website. The admission process is completely online. There is no need to visit University. Every student needs to pay an application fee at the time of registration. Tentative date of starting admission is 15 December 2025*. Classes will begin from the month of January.
Eligibility Criteria For IGNOU MCA Admission 2026-27
Students need to fulfill eligibility criteria as mentioned in the guidelines of IGNOU. For admission in the MCA programme, students need to have a BCA Degree in or Equivalent Degree. Students having a B.Com degree, a B.Sc degree or a B. A degree in Maths specialization are also eligible to apply. They can apply through Official website. Students of every age can apply here as there is no age criteria at IGNOU.

IGNOU offers MCA programme with a low cost fee structure that can be easily affordable to students in comparison to other Universities. Students have to pay programme fee, development fee and registration fee as well. Registration fee is mandatory to pay and will not be refunded in any case. IGNOU MCA Admission Application Process 2026-27
IGNOU MCA admission window has not opened yet for the 2026- 27 January academic session. Before applying for admission, check all the information and instructions carefully. Follow these simple steps to smoothly apply for admission without facing any kind of inconvenience:
Note: Before applying for admission, note that every student must have a DEB ID or else they won’t be eligible for admission. Read every instruction carefully as given in University’s guidelines.
- Step 1: Go to official website of IGNOU. Then go to admission section. Click on the ‘Apply for ODL Programme’ option.
- Step 2: Students can directly apply by clicking here: www.ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in.
- Step 3: After admission portal opens, click on New Registration. Fill in your basic details and create an account. (Provide your own contact number and Email address)
- Step 4: After successful registration, Username and Password will be provided to you on registered email. Use that to login to your account.
- Step 5: Now fill an application form with all the required personal details like Name, Address, Phone Number, etc.
- Step 6: Then, fill in details of your academic qualification.
- Step 7: choose the programme you are interested in applying to.
- Step 8: In next step upload your recent photo, ID proof, signature and other required documents.
- Step 9: Preview, pay application fee and submit Application form and download it for future reference.
- Step 10: Download fee payment acknowledgement receipt for future reference.
- Step 11: In the last step, University will verify your details and uploaded documents. Once they are verified, you will get confirmation mail of your admission.
Documents Required For IGNOU MCA Admission
Students must remember that they have to scan their documents only from the original documents.
- Scanned latest Photograph of applicant (less than 100 KB)
- Scanned Signature of applicant (less than 100 KB)
- Scanned copy of Proof of Identity (less than 200 KB)
- Scanned copy of relevant Academic Qualification (less than 200 KB)

IGNOU MCA Admission Cancellation & Refund Policy
IGNOU has an Admission Cancellation policy for cases where students change their mind or have to back out due to any reason. There are some guidelines followed at the time of admission cancellation by the University. Application or registration fee is not refundable to any student in any situation.
If a request of cancellation is made after the confirmation of admission, then 15% of programme fee and Rs. 2000 as additional charge will be deducted from paid fee. If any students who have received scholarship files for cancellation, then they will get a refund of the development fee only. If a student cancels admission after 60 days of admission closing date, then no amount will be refunded.
