IGNOU MA Economics Admission Process 2026
- Step 1: Go directly to Samarth admission portal of IGNOU or apply though university’s official website.
- Step 2: Make a fresh account under ‘New Registration’ and get login credentials which includes username and password.
- Step 3: Re-login to the admission portal by those credentials and start filling application form.
- Step 4: Fill in required details related to personal information and academic qualifications correctly
- Step 5: Preview your form then submit by paying required fees. Download fee acknowledgement receipt and check mail for application submission confirmation
- Step 6: After verification of details and documents, you will eventually get a confirmation email on registered ID. If not received within 30 to 40 days of admission, contact the University.

Students who have filled in an application form for admission in MA Economics programme can start checking their admission status after 10 to 30 working days. There is a very simple procedure to check this.
- Visit the official portal: Go to IGNOU and check for links for the admission section. Scroll down to the ‘know your status’ option.
- Fill admission details: Now, enter your enrollment number and programme code (you can check on the downloaded application form)
- Security Check: Enter the captcha to pass the security check
- Check Status: Now your admission status will be visible. ‘Provisional’ means documents are under review, ‘Confirmed’ means admission is confirmed and ‘Rejected’ means your application is rejected.
IGNOU MA Economics Admission Cancellation Policy
IGNOU has admission cancellation policy for students who want to withdraw their application. -There are different criterias for fee refund after cancellation. There will be no registration/application fee refund in any case.
- Students who withdraw applications before admission confirmation get a complete refund of programme and development fee.
- Students who withdraw after admission confirmation gets 85% fee refund with deduction of Rs. 2000.
- If any students withdraw their name after closing of admissions, those students will not be eligible for any refund.
IGNOU Scholarship Policy
Students can apply through National Scholarship Portal for National Government of India Scholarship Programme for scholarship on merit basis, financial condition and on the basis of their category. IGNOU does not have any scholarship policy of its own but it has all arrangements to financially aid students.
