THE IGNOU DNHE admission process will start soon for the January 2026 academic session. It is a 1-year diploma programme approved by UGC. Students with a basic 10+2 qualification are eligible to apply from official website of University. Total Programme fee is Rs 3,500, plus registration and development charges. The starting date to apply for admission is expected to be 15 December 2025*, though it is subject to change as per further announcement from University.

About IGNOU

IGNOU, established in 1985, is a reputed and renowned Central University of India which is the world’s largest open university. It delivers programmes through distance mode of education. IGNOU was established by an act of parliament with an aim to make education accessible and affordable to everyone, including those who can not attend regular classes. University is UGC approved, NAAC-accredited, and AIU-recognised. It has NIRF ranking as well. 

IGNOU DNHE Programme Details

This Programme gives in depth theoretical and practical knowledge to students about nutrition and health education. Faculty members and nutrition & health educators, both provide academic inputs as well as insights of the course. Through this course students develops knowledge base in key areas of nutrition and public health. The course is offered in both ODL and OL mode of learning. Medium of instruction through which programme is delivered is English and Hindi. Total 32 credits have been assigned to DNHE programme.

IGNOU DNHE admission process will start soon for the January 2026 academic session. To apply for admissions, students must fulfill eligibility requirements as mentioned in University guidelines. Application form can be filled up through the official website or Samarth admission portal. Students are advised to check all the details regarding course, its fee, evaluation, etc before enrolling. There is also an application fee that needs to be paid by all. The starting date to apply is 15 December 2025* (tentative) and it can be further extend as well. 

Eligibility Criteria For IGNOU DNHE Admission

Eligibility criteria for DNHE as mentioned by IGNOU in its admission guidelines is that students must have passed their 10+2 or its equivalent from a recognized board of education. There is no minimum or maximum age requirement. Another important requirement is having a DEB ID at the time of filling application form. If any candidate does not have one, they can create through UGC DEB portal. All those who are interested and eligible for DNHE programme are requested to apply from official website only as there is no other authorized way to apply. 

IGNOU DNHE Admission Fee Structure 2026

If any candidate wants to pursue DNHE Programme in a budget friendly and reasonable fees then they can choose IGNOU. If you pay fees once, it will be valid and considered till 3 years from the date of admission. Programme fee should be paid in one installment only at the time of submitting application form. Candidates also have to pay registration/application fee which will not be refunded later in case of admission withdrawal. For more details fee structure, they can refer to below table:

Applicants must have their original documents with them at the time of filling application form. Follow these simple steps to apply online:

• STEP 1: Applicants can either apply through the official website or directly from its admission portal, www.ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in/. 
• STEP 2: Then, they need to register as a ‘New User’. Create an account by filling basic details. Use your personal Email id as it will be used for all official communications. Name and address filled should match to your educational documents.
• STEP 3: Now log in asthe  existing user by the Username and Password you created. If not remember, check your registered Email ID. 
• STEP 4: Start filling application form with required personal and academic details. Details should be filled in carefully.
• STEP 5: Now upload documents in pdf or jpg format. Documents should be scanned from your original one only. 
• STEP 6: Pay application fees and submit form. University will send admission confirmation mail within 10 to 40 working days after verifying all details and documents.

• 10th marksheet and certificate
• 12th marksheet and certificate
• Applicant’s scanned signature
•  Applicant’s Recent passport size photograph
• Government issued ID Proof (Aadhar card/Pan card/Passport)
• Category certificate (if applicable)

IGNOU DNHE Admission Cancellation and Refund

Students who wants to cancel their admission or withdraw their application can do it without worrying about refund. IGNOU has admission cancellation policy with some terms and conditions. 

• Students who withdraw their application before confirmation of admission will get complete refund except for application fee.
• Students who withdraw admission after it gets confirmed will get refund after deduction of 15% programme fee and ceiling of INR 2000.
• Students who cancels their admission after the closing date of admission will not get any refund.
• Scholarship students gets only development fee as refund.

The application fee will not be refunded to any students as it is non-refundable. 

Career Scope After Completing The DNHE Program 

The door opens to various career opportunities after completing a Diploma in Nutrition and Health Education. Students can become a nutritionist, a health educator, or a diet counselor in hospitals, clinics, etc. They also have the opportunity to work in NGOs. The average salary offered is INR 6 lpa to INR 9 lpa.
