IGNOU BSc Admission 2026: Admission for various programmes, including Bachelor of Science (BSc) is going to open soon for January session 2026. Interested students can apply by visiting to official website and filling registration form. Total programme fee of BSc programme is Rs. 37,800. Students having a 10+2 marksheet are eligible to apply. BSc is a UGC approved degree programme and have same value as a regular degree. The expected date of starting of admission is going to be 15 December 2025*. There is a registration fee that needs to be paid at the time of application submission.

What is the IGNOU BSc Programme?

IGNOU BSc (Bachelor of Science) programme is a UG course, which has 3 years of course duration, and is offered under Four Year Graduate Programme (FYUP). University offers this course as general and with multiple specializations like BSc in Mathematics, Zoology, Physics, Chemistry, etc. In this course, students are equipped with foundational and specialised knowledge in Science. Students get generic skills helpful in internships and placements.

There are many career opportunities that are available for students who have completed their course in BSc. After completing this course, students can become Lab Technicians, Research Assistants, Data Analyst, Quality Analyst, Teacher, etc.They can also choose to pursue higher studies later.

IGNOU BSc Admission 2026-27

IGNOU BSc admission will begin soon for the January 2026 academic session. Students who are eligible can apply by filling registration form that can be accessed through the authorised website of the University. Admission process is completely online and does not require University visit even once. 15 December 2025* is the expected date of admission starting. Students must know, it is mandatory to pay registration fee and it won’t be refunded later.

Eligibility Criteria For IGNOU BSc Admission 2026-27

Candidates who are interested in getting a degree in BSc Programme through IGNOU need to fulfill eligibility criteria as issued by University in its guidelines. Every interested candidate should have passed their 10+2 with Science stream or its equivalent from Certified education board. They can apply through official website. Every eligible candidate must have a DEB ID while filling form as it is mandatory for admission.

IGNOU offers cost efficient fee for its BSc programme to make education accessible for all. Students must pay registration fee as well which is different for General Students (Rs 300) and Reserved Category students (Rs. 150). Kindly refer to below table for detailed fee structure:

IGNOU BSc Admission Process 2026-27

Students can follow given instructions to fill application form without much problem:

  • Step 1: Visit Authorized IGNOU website and click on ‘Apply for ODL Programme’ under Admission section or you can directly visit Samarth Admission Portal
  • Step 2: Click on ‘New Registration’ and create your account through personal mobile number and Email address. Save credentials
  • Step 3: Now using saved credentials, login as an existing user and you will get access to application form
  • Step 4: Fill the application form with all asked information like your personal information and details related to academic qualifications
  • Step 5: Now upload proof of documents that should be scanned from your original documents only
  • Step 6: Check for any mistakes and then pay applicable fees (which includes registration and programme fees)
  • Step 7: Submit your application and download fee receipt, filled application form for future reference
  • Step 8: After University verifies your documents and information, they will send admission confirmation mail on registered Email Id.

IGNOU BSc Programme Evaluation & Credits

To evaluate students’ academic performance, IGNOU has split it into two components: assessment and examination. Assessment includes practical & written assignment, and Term End Examination which includes Theory exam and Seminars/ Workshops. Students won’t be allowed to appear for TEE exams unless they submit their assignments before deadline.

IGNOU follows Credit system for every programme. Credit depicts hours of study students need for the programme they have chosen. Each credit is equal to 30 hours of study through any type of learning materials. This credit system is beneficial for students in deciding how much effort they need to put in a course to pass.
