IGNOU BCA admission will start soon for the January Session 2026. Total Programme fee of BCA (Bachelor of Computer Application) is INR 49,800. The tentative date to apply for admission is 15 December 2025*. Students who are 10+2 pass out can apply for admission through filling an Application form. BCA Programme offered by IGNOU is UGC approved and AIU-recognised. Interested students can apply by going to official website. What is BCA Programme?

Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA) is an Undergraduate degree with 3 years of course duration. This degree programme focuses on imparting knowledge on Computer Science and its applications. BCA provides a blend of Theoretical knowledge and Practical skills in areas like software development, database management, web technology, programming language etc. 

Eligibility Criteria For IGNOU BCA Admission 2026-27

There are some eligibility criteria that need to be fulfilled by every student who wants to apply here for admissions. To be eligible for BCA Programme, every Interested applicant must have cleared their 10+2 or its equivalent from a recognized board of education. There is no maximum or minimum age criteria for students as IGNOU allows students from every age group to take admission here. 

IGNOU BCA Admission Fee Structure 2026-27

IGNOU offers a BCA programme with a low cost and affordable fee structure. Students have to pay Development fee and application in addition to Tuition (Programme) fee. IGNOU provides relaxation in application fee to Reserved category students like Scheduled Castes & Scheduled Tribes. General Category Students have to pay INR. 300 meanwhile Reserved Category students have to pay Rs. 150 for registration. All students are advised to read all the instructions and details carefully before applying for admission. They can follow these simple steps to experience a smooth and hassle-free procedure:

• Step 1: Go to official website of IGNOU. 
• Step 2: Go to admission section and click on ‘Apply for ODL Programmes’. Students can directly visit admission portal of IGNOU by clicking here: www.ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in. 
• Step 3: Click on ‘New Registration’ and create a Username and Password by filling basic personal details.
• Step 4: Save Username and Password that you have received via Email or text message. Now, login again to admission portal as Existing User with provided credentials.
• Step 5: Fill in the application form with all necessary information  like Personal details and Academic details. 
• Step 6: In next step, choose programme you want to apply for.
• Step 7: Upload all necessary documents like Your photo, signature, documentary proof, etc.
• Step 8: Preview your form and check all information to avoid any mistakes.
• Step 9: Pay Application and Programme fee through Credit Card, Debit card or Netbanking.
• Step 10: Again Check Preview for any mistake before submission.
• Step 11: Submit your form and download it for future reference

Documents Required For IGNOU BCA Admission

Note: Every Student must have a DEB ID. If they do not have DEB ID they won’t be eligible for proceeding further in admission process. Also, kindly have original documents with you at the time of filling application form.

All documents should be scanned from your Originals:

• Scanned copy of Government Identity Proof(less than 200 KB)
• Scanned Recent Photograph (less than 100 KB)
• Scanned Signature (less than 100 KB)
• Scanned copy of relevant Educational Qualification (less than 200 KB)
• Scanned Copy of Experience Certificate (if any) (less than 200 KB)
• Scanned Copy of Category Certificate, if SC/ST/OBC (less than 200 KB)

IGNOU Evaluation System for BCA Programme

IGNOU has a multi-tier Evaluation system, which is different from other Universities. It has Continuous Evaluation mainly through dividing into two components – Assignments and Term End Examination.  Assignments include Tutor marked assignments and Practical assignments. Term End Examination (TEE) includes Theory Examination and Workshops/ Seminars. IGNOU has made it compulsory to submit assignments within a given time frame or else students are not allowed to appear for Term End Examination.

Career Scope After Pursuing BCA Programme

There are several career options students can choose from after completing their BCA Programme from IGNOU. Some of the most offered job profiles are Cybersecurity Analyst, Software Developer, Data Scientist, IT Specialist, Database Administrator, Network Administrator, etc. They can also go for higher education or work as a freelancer. After completing the BCA degree, aspirants can get an average annual salary package of INR 4 Lakhs to INR 12 Lakhs according to their fields.
